Premcar-fettled Infiniti at Monterey Car Week

Aussie influence for US-only Infiniti concept, applying local off-road treatment

25 Aug 2025

A HOMEGROWN Aussie special made an appearance at the exclusive Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance in Monterey, California, with a Premcar-fettled Infiniti QX80 – luxury sibling to the Nissan Patrol – on display.

Melbourne-based Premcar, which is responsible for the Navara and Patrol Warrior, among other up-fitted vehicles, worked with Infiniti to transform the big SUV with a mix of visual and functional upgrades.

The resulting QX80 Terrain Spec concept showcases rugged Australian styling with a lifted, pumped and blacked-out treatment that takes the base model and transforms it into an off-road-ready adventure rig.

"The Premcar team is proud to have worked with Infiniti USA to create the QX80 Terrain Spec concept," Premcar chief executive Bernie Quinn told GoAuto.

Premcar and Infiniti landed on a range of improvements, including a lift kit, off-road wheels with all-terrain tyres, fender flares and, like the local Patrol Warrior, a side-exit exhaust.

It also scores a rooftop tent, limb risers, a roof-mounted lightbar and protective covers over the lower front and rear fascias giving it a far more aggressive appearance from every angle.

Sitting alongside the Terrain Spec was the polar opposite QX80 Track Spec, aimed at on-road performance with its low, wide stance and air-gulping front intakes.

It isn’t all for show either because Infiniti has tweaked the turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 in the Track Spec to produce 485kW/1017Nm – around 50 per cent more power and torque than the base model.

Large Brembo brakes help slow the track-focused beast, tucked under 24-inch wheels, and up back there’s quad exhausts and a large diffuser to round out the upgrades.

"High performance and off-road capability are emotional entry points into how today's drivers experience luxury," said Infiniti Americas vice president, Tiago Castro.

"QX80 Track Spec and Terrain Spec reflect two distinct client mindsets—those who crave thrilling on-road performance and those who seek confident capability far beyond the pavement.

“These concepts embody Infiniti's new, fast-to-market mindset—one that allows us to explore what resonates most with clients while accelerating our push into the premium SUV space."

This isn’t the first time Premcar has had its handiwork on display at Pebble Beach, first gracing the lawns with a reimagined Ford Bronco back in 2023.

The throwback model was the result of a collaboration between the Australian firm and Illinois-based Gateway Bronco, combining modern running gear and classic styling.
