Aston Martin Valhalla Spider revealed

Roofless Valhalla retains 793kW hybrid V8, 350km/h top speed, F1-derived technology

29 Oct 2026

ASTON Martin has unveiled an open-cockpit version of its Valhalla supercar, the Spider retaining the Coupe’s 793kW plug-in hybrid powertrain and 350km/h maximum speed while introducing a removable roof.

Scheduled for global deliveries from the third quarter of 2027, the Valhalla Spider becomes the fastest open-cockpit Aston Martin yet, extending the British marque’s mid-engined supercar range following the Coupe’s introduction earlier this year.

Australian pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed, although the Valhalla Coupe is offered locally through Aston Martin’s dealership network.

International reports suggest the Spider will command a premium of approximately 40 per cent over the Coupe, with pricing expected to start around £1.3 million ($A2.6 million).

The Spider is expected to account for approximately one-quarter of the Valhalla’s limited 999-unit production allocation, with much of the production run reportedly already spoken for.

Mechanically, the Spider retains the Coupe’s bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-plane crankshaft V8, producing 609kW, supplemented by three electric motors contributing a further 184kW.

Combined outputs remain unchanged at 793kW and 1100Nm, with Aston Martin claiming a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 2.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 350km/h.

Importantly, the Spider can achieve its maximum speed with the roof removed, although the standard removable fabric roof limits covered operation to 200km/h. An optional carbon-fibre hardtop permits unrestricted performance when fitted.

To accommodate the open cockpit, Aston Martin has revised the Valhalla’s aerodynamic package, incorporating a removable wind deflector and redesigned roof-mounted air intake snorkel, which sits 35mm higher than that of the Coupe.

The deflector directs airflow above occupants while maintaining cooling air supply to the powertrain, and folds into three sections for storage within new 15-litre sill compartments.

Revised active aerodynamics and electronic stability control calibrations maintain consistent handling characteristics with or without the roof fitted, while maximum aerodynamic downforce remains above 600kg in roof-on configuration.

The Spider retains the Coupe’s carbon-fibre monocoque, developed in collaboration with Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consulting division of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team.

Its hybrid all-wheel drive arrangement employs two electric motors at the front axle, providing independent torque vectoring, while a third motor assists the V8 through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the rear wheels.

An integrated vehicle dynamics system coordinates steering, suspension, braking, powertrain and aerodynamic functions across four selectable driving modes: Sport, Sport+, Race, and EV.

Additional changes include revised frameless dihedral doors, improved access with the roof fitted and new carbon-fibre Touring seats designed to improve comfort.

The Coupe’s more heavily bolstered carbon-fibre seats remain available as a no-cost alternative.

Other equipment includes adaptive Bilstein dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, and optional lightweight magnesium alloys.

Aston Martin chief executive Adrian Hallmark said the Spider builds upon the technological milestones established by the Coupe.

“Valhalla Coupe broke so much new ground. Our first production mid-engined supercar. Our first plug-in hybrid. The first to feature our bespoke flat-plane crank V8 engine, and the first to use our all-new eight-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT),” he said.

“Valhalla Spider builds on those impressive ‘firsts’, preserving the aesthetic beauty and dynamic bandwidth of Valhalla Coupe while introducing the expanded opportunities for enjoyment and engagement that can only be found in an open-cockpit supercar.”

The Valhalla Spider will make its public debut at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas this weekend, ahead of its planned introduction next year.
