Future models - Genesis - GV60Genesis previews updated GV60Greater range, more powerful battery joins new tech and comfort features in updated GV607 Mar 2025 By MATT BROGAN GENESIS has previewed its facelifted GV60 electric SUV this week ahead of the model’s launch in Australia in the second half of 2025.
On sale now in South Korea, the 2025 Genesis GV60 boasts refreshed interior and exterior designs, a new fourth-generation 84kWh battery – extending the model’s driving range to 481km – and added technology features Genesis says will ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable drive.
As the first facelift of the GV60 since its debut in October 2021, we find greater incorporation of Genesis’ Athletic Elegance styling language, the model sporting a refreshed bumper with three-dimensional contouring, Two Lines LED headlights with sophisticated Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, the choice of 19-, 20- or 21-inch alloy wheels, and a body-coloured rear skid plate.
Inside, the Genesis GV60 retains its Crystal Sphere electronic gear selector while being joined by a 27.0-inch connected car Integrated Cockpit (ccIC) infotainment system, which now eliminates the bezel between the cluster and the audio-visual and navigation (AVN) screen.
Further changes include a sporty three-spoke steering wheel, and the centre console and crash pad are now outfitted in patterned aluminium.
The GV60 will be offered in a choice of 12 exterior colours including the new Tromso Green hue.
The interior comes with five colour options, including three new two-tone combinations; Prussian Blue over Sky Blue, Pine Grove Green over Gold Coast Yellow, and Galaxy Black over Aqua Green.
Importantly, the GV60 is now equipped with a high-energy-density fourth-generation battery, increasing capacity from 77.4kWh to 84.0kWh. Genesis says the increase allows greater travelling distance, now 481km up from 451km.
The battery pack’s improved cooling performance allows a charging time of as little as 18 minutes, when charging from 10-80 per cent using a 350kW DC fast charger. The model also offers an optimised Battery Conditioning Mode to allow rapid charging performance, even in low winter temperatures.
Further updates include a third-generation brake regeneration system said to apply the “optimal amount of regenerative braking for each driving scenario by considering navigation information such as traffic flow, the driver’s deceleration patterns, speed cameras, speed bumps and roundabouts”.
Elsewhere, changes to the GV60 include improved front and rear damping, and rear hydro bushings (previously fitted only to the front) to enhance vehicle stability and ride comfort, while minimising road vibrations.
The steering gear ratio has also been optimised to improve steering response.
Genesis has further improved the driving experience offered in the GV60 by adding new Electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD) technology in addition to the previously applied Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) system.
It joins enhanced soundproofing materials in the rear seats and cargo area, as well as improvements to the sealing structure in the front windshield, further increasing interior quietness.
The all-wheel drive Genesis GV70 outputs 360kW and 700Nm when Boost Mode is activated, with the vehicle taking further technologies from the Ioniq 5 N including Virtual Gear Shit, Hidden Drift Mode, and an electronic Limited Slip Differential.
Together, the changes are said to bring about a 0-100km/h time of just 4.0 seconds.
Stopping power comes from now-standard four-piston monobloc calipers across all GV60 grades.
We also find an enhanced infotainment experience that includes Hey Genesis voice recognition, access to a range of streaming services, 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen high-resolution sound, and upgraded ADAS technologies including an in-cabin camera, Lane Keeping Assist 2, and hands on detection.
Along with this, new convenience features have been added including a digital rear-view mirror, walk-away door locks, facial recognition, and further reaching OTA-compatible software updates including those for Smart Parking and battery charging.
Genesis Australia says more information and pricing will be announced closer to the GV60’s second-half launch. ![]() |
