Future models - Lepas - L6Lepas L6 EV Aussie specs revealedThe Lepas L6’s headline figures include 160kW and 275Nm outputs and a 440km range8 Sep 2026 OFFICIAL specifications have been revealed for the Lepas L6 EV mid-sized SUV – the Chery-owed brand’s first Australian model – ahead of its public debut at the Everything Electric show in Sydney and its official launch next month.
While pricing hasn’t been announced, the L6 is poised to do battle in the Australian market with the likes of the BYD Atto 3 EVO (from $41,990 + ORC), Geely EX5 (from $41,990 + ORC), and the BEV Leapmotor C10 variants (from $45,888 + ORCs) in the Australian market.
The L6 EV rides on the LEX electrified vehicle platform – compatible with both BEV and PHEV powertrain – what has been developed specifically for the Lepas brand.
Its powertrain comprises a front mounted electric motor, producing 160kW and 275Nm, while its 65kWh LFP battery – supporting 30 to 80 per cent DC charging times of around 22 minutes – is good for a 440km WLTP driving range, and a claimed energy consumption figure of 17.5kWh/100km.
Exterior highlights include 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, a panoramic glass roof, and a power tailgate.
Inside, you’ll find a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen (compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and voice command), an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker Sony premium sound system, a 50W wireless phone charger, colour-selectable ambient lighting, and puddle lights.
Its suite of safety features includes seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, a 360-degree camera, automatic parking assist and remote parking assist. The Lepas L6 is currently unrated by ANCAP.
Lepas Australia’s chief operating officer Lucas Harris says the L6 represents an important first step for the brand.
“The L6 represents an exciting new chapter for our business and marks the arrival of Lepas in Australia,” he said.
“Lepas has been developed around the concept of Bold by Nature – bringing together sophisticated design and colours, intelligent technology and advanced electrification in a way that is relevant to the everyday needs of Australian customers.
“The L6 is an important first step for the brand, offering a compelling combination of style, technology, comfort and EV performance in one of Australia’s most competitive vehicle segments.”
Back in July, Lepas detailed the L6’s local validation program, which included vehicle refinement, software integration, ADAS fine-tuning, hot and cold weather testing, and testing in metropolitan, regional and rural areas.
Lepas’ arrival marks Chery’s fourth brand launch since the Chinese marque relaunched on Australian shores in 2023, with Jaecoo and Omoda launching as standalone brands in 2025.
Another Chery brand, iCaur, has also been locked in for its Australian arrival in early 2027.
