Lexus unveils roadster version of its planned super-coupe18 Jan 2008 By TERRY MARTIN LEXUS has unveiled a chop-top version of its LF-A luxury super-coupe concept at the North American International Auto Show. The LF-A two-seater roadster continues to use the use the lightweight carbon-fibre and aluminium body of the 911 Turbo-chasing coupe, despite the additional structural issues that come to the fore when designers take a gas axe to the roof. The coupe is due for production inside two years, which is enough time for the roadster to also be prepared for a simultaneous showroom debut. ![]() The cabriolet stands just 1219mm tall, which is equivalent to the coupe, but adds a speed-adaptive rear wing. The other striking feature of the rear is a pair of wrap-around, arrowhead-shaped tail-lights that bracket two large grilles, the latter venting heated air from the two rear-mounted radiators.
