Due to make its global debut later this year ahead of customer deliveries in 2027, the GT becomes the fifth member of the Range Rover family and the first model underpinned by Jaguar Land Rover’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA).
The newcomer will initially launch exclusively as a battery-electric vehicle before gaining a conventional hybrid powertrain later in its lifecycle, broadening the Range Rover line-up alongside the upcoming Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric.
Rather than replacing an existing model, the GT will sit between the Velar and Range Rover Sport, creating a new grand touring-focused offering that prioritises on-road refinement without abandoning the brand’s renowned off-road capability.
Range Rover says the GT has been engineered to deliver “beautiful and engaging GT poise” while retaining the breadth of capability expected of the marque.
Managing director Martin Limpert described the new model as a reinterpretation of the traditional grand tourer.
“The Range Rover GT will redefine the grand-touring segment with the ability to deliver beautiful and engaging GT poise, proportions and long-distance refinement while offering capabilities no conventional GT can match,” he said.
“We have spent the last few years working obsessively on the fundamentals of the GT formula, reinterpreted in a sophisticated, uniquely Range Rover way.
“The result is the most car-like, yet unmistakably capable, Range Rover ever created.”
The GT represents the biggest styling departure in Range Rover’s history.
Its dramatically sloping roofline, tapered rear treatment, and lower stance have been designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency while creating a more sporting profile than any previous Range Rover.
Prototype vehicles remain camouflaged as final validation testing continues, but the new model’s proportions clearly distinguish it from the more upright Evoque, Velar, Sport, and flagship Range Rover.
Inside, Range Rover has adopted an even more minimalist design philosophy.
A large central touchscreen replaces most physical switchgear, complemented by a slim digital driver display positioned above the steering wheel.
Hidden air vents stretch across the dashboard, while woven textiles conceal the audio speakers to create what the company describes as a calmer and less visually cluttered environment.
The interior also previews a new design language for future Range Rover products, featuring fewer screens, reduced visual complexity, and greater use of sustainable materials.
Despite its coupe-like proportions, Range Rover claims the GT will offer class-leading rear legroom together with long-distance touring comfort.
Technical specifications are still under wraps, although the prototype’s digital instrumentation indicates approximately 463km of remaining driving range at 80 per cent battery charge, suggesting a total range approaching 580km.
Industry reports indicate the production model is expected to adopt an 800-volt electrical architecture, dual-motor all-wheel drive, and a battery exceeding 100kWh; although Jaguar Land Rover has yet to confirm those figures.
The EMA platform has been engineered primarily for battery-electric vehicles but has been designed to accommodate future hybrid applications, allowing Range Rover to broaden the GT range as customer demand evolves.
Production will take place at Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood facility in the United Kingdom, where the GT will be manufactured alongside future internal combustion and hybrid models.
Further technical details, performance specifications and market availability will be announced when the production version is unveiled later this year.
