Future models - Renault - Scenic - E-TechScenic will return to Renault showroomsRenault Scenic returns to Australia in time for Xmas, reborn as electric medium SUV22 Oct 2025 CONFIRMED for local consumption soon is the new fifth-generation Renault Scenic, a nameplate that has morphed from a dumpy-looking people mover in past iterations into a stylish battery electric medium SUV.
Due by the end of the year, the new NVES-friendly Scenic E-Tech arrives as part of Renault Australia’s promised new model roll-out and expanded battery electric vehicle (BEV) line-up that already includes the Megane E-Tech small SUV – with many more in the pipeline.
The Renault Scenic (and Grand Scenic) disappeared Down Under around 15 years ago but, depending on pricing, returns with much better sales prospects as it taps into the electric medium SUV zeitgeist.
Detailed specifications, variant mix and all-important pricing are yet to be quoted by the importer, suffice to say the Scenic E-Tech lobs in the middle of the Chinese BEV tsunami that has seen more established brands bring numerous keenly priced additions to the electric SUV market.
Renault will have the similar-sized and also-European Skoda Elroq to contend with, coming in at $54,990 before on-road costs – identical pricing to the smaller Megane E-Tech – while Nissan’s Ariya opens at $55,840 + ORC and the Volkswagen ID. 4 has a $62,990 drive-away offer in place until the end of this year.
We do know the new Scenic E-Tech is a five-seat family-oriented vehicle that “showcases the company’s future technology”.
It has a single electric motor providing front-wheel drive, with two battery size options and dimensions of 4470mm long, 1864mm wide, 1565mm high and a 2785mm wheelbase.
According to WLTP testing criteria, 160kW/300Nm long-range versions of Scenic E-Tech can travel a maximum distance of 625km on a full charge of their 87kWh battery pack while the 125kW/280Nm standard range’s 60kWh pack is good for 430km.
Maximum fast charging rate for the standard range is 130kW while the long range can handle 150kW.
Performance can be gauged by the claimed 7.9 second 0-100km/h sprint for long range variants and 8.6 seconds for the standard range variants.
“Earlier this year we announced Renault Australia would introduce six new or updated models over the next 18 months,” said Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey.
“The Renault Scenic E-Tech is just the start of our revitalisation program and we are delighted to be able to introduce this award-winning car in Australia.
“In a sea of ‘same-same’ SUVs, the Renault Scenic E-Tech stands out for its French flair, cutting edge design, and easy-to-use technology.
