Future models - Toyota - Corolla - GRMNUpdated Toyota GR Corolla: Hints of GRMN?Toyota’s hottest Corolla is coming in for a hero upgrade but details are slim for now7 Apr 2025 By MIKE STEVENS TOYOTA has released a handful of preview images and a single block of teaser text to announce the coming of a special upgraded MY26 GR Corolla.
Photos reveal a camouflaged prototype with new aero elements exposed, including a redesigned front bar, new bonnet vents, and a huge rear wing of the sort last seen on the special Morizo edition, or any number of aftermarket upgrades.
Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division has been caught testing a similarly bewinged hatch on the Nurburgring in the past year, suggesting this could be the anticipated GRMN edition of the GR Corolla – following in the footsteps of the Yaris GRMN that first previewed today’s GR program some seven years ago.
For those not up to speed with Toyota’s whacky nomenclature, GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing, Meister of Nurburgring.
Little else is known about the new model for now, except that “a bump in torque” is confirmed, along with “unique tuning” – details that both point to this being a special edition rather than another update for the core GR Corolla.
Toyota says the new GR Corolla variant will be revealed in the northern hemisphere autumn, suggesting sometime around September, assuming it first satisfies “Akio Toyoda’s final test drive”.
The current GR Corolla made its Australian debut in 2023, arriving as a 221kW/370Nm companion to the hugely successful GR Yaris.
Both models were given an upgrade earlier this year, bumping torque to 400Nm, while the GR Yaris was given the same 221kW (up from 200kW) featured with the Corolla.
