Genesis prices first Magma model

GV60 Magma brings 478kW, track-focused technology and $130K price tag

13 Jul 2026

GENESIS has priced its first series-production high-performance model for Australia, with the battery-electric GV60 Magma to arrive from $130,000 plus on-road costs.

Positioned as the flagship of the GV60 range, the Magma introduces a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain producing 448kW and 740Nm in normal operation, rising to 478kW and 790Nm when its 15-second Boost Mode is activated.

Genesis claims the 84kWh-equipped performance SUV will accelerate from rest to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds using launch control, reach 200km/h in 10.9 seconds, and continue to a top speed of 264km/h.

The newcomer serves as the first production example of Genesis’ emerging Magma performance sub-brand, which will underpin a broader range of higher-output models combining increased dynamic capability with the marque’s established luxury positioning.

Genesis Motors Australia head Justin Douglass said the GV60 Magma marked “the beginning of an exciting new chapter” for the brand, with electrification providing the basis for its performance ambitions.

“GV60 Magma establishes the foundation for our future Magma portfolio, providing the blueprint for blending dynamic performance with the luxury, refinement and technology that set Genesis vehicles apart,” he said.

Beyond its additional power, the Magma receives substantial chassis changes intended to improve cornering performance without undermining ride comfort.

The suspension adopts recalibrated roll centres and revised geometry, supported by electronically controlled dampers with stroke-sensing and end-of-travel management.

Front hydro bushings and dual-layer rear crossmember bushings are also fitted to limit the transmission of impact and vibration into the cabin.

Stopping performance is handled by 400mm brake discs with monoblock callipers and recalibrated anti-lock control. Genesis claims the GV60 Magma can stop from 100km/h in 33.8 metres.

Drivers may select Comfort or Sport brake settings, with the latter providing a firmer and more immediate response while increasing high-speed braking power by approximately 15 per cent.

Three primary drive modes – Sprint, GT and configurable MY – are joined by several dedicated performance functions, including Drift Mode, High-Performance Battery Control, and a Virtual Gear Shift system.

The latter simulates the gear changes, torque interruptions, and soundtrack of a high-performance combustion vehicle by coordinating motor output and regenerative braking.

A Magma-specific display mode presents motor and battery temperatures, speed and lateral G-force through a three-dial instrument layout, while the head-up display can show regenerative braking level and remaining Boost Mode time.

Visually, the GV60 Magma is distinguished by a lower and wider stance, reshaped bumpers, front canards, aerodynamic side skirts, a winglet-style rear spoiler, and forged 21-inch wheels wrapped in 275mm Pirelli P Zero tyres.

The cabin gains suede-like Chamude upholstery across the seats, doors, and centre console, complemented by orange or grey stitching and a Magma-specific steering wheel.

Standard technology includes a 27.0-inch integrated OLED display, Genesis Connected Services, Digital Key 2.0, and expanded over-the-air (OTA) update capability covering up to 45 vehicle functions.

Exterior colours include Magma Orange, Uyuni White, Saville Silver, Makalu Grey, Vik Black, Tromso Green, and Ceres Blue, with three matte finishes available at an additional $4000.

The $130,000 manufacturer’s list price includes Luxury Car Tax where applicable but excludes delivery and on-road costs.

Ownership provisions include a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty for private buyers, five years or 75,000km of scheduled servicing, and roadside assistance for up to 10 years when servicing is maintained through Genesis.
