New models - GMC - Yukon - DenaliGMC Yukon Denali conversion beginsRight-hand drive conversion of GMC’s Yukon Denali underway ahead of May 2025 launch14 Apr 2025 By MATT BROGAN GENERAL Motors Special Vehicles (GMSV) has begun right-hand drive conversion of its incoming GMC Yukon Denali ahead of the model’s May debut.
With “seating for eight, potent V8 power and true off-road capability”, GMSV says its full-size SUV will set new benchmarks for the Upper Large category, announcing pricing of $174,990 plus on-road costs for Australia or $184,990 +ORC for New Zealand.
“This is a flagship product in the truest sense of the term – an eight-seat family vehicle unrivalled in terms of performance and practicality,” said General Motors Australia and New Zealand director Jess Bala.
“There’s no better vehicle to launch the GMC brand in our market, with the Yukon Denali’s combination of potent performance, towing confidence and luxury in every seat delivering a truly unique proposition in the upper-large SUV space.”
The GMC Yukon Denali is powered exclusively by a 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and dual-range four-wheel drive. The combination delivers a claimed 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque. Braked towing capacity is listed at “in excess of 3500kg”.
The model further features a 91-litre fuel tank and capless filler, standard idle-stop system, four-wheel disc brakes, electronic limited slip differential (rear), adaptive air suspension with Magnetic Ride Control damping, and a dual outlet exhaust.
External feature highlights include 24-inch machine-faced alloy wheels, “lashings of chrome”, LED lighting, and daytime running and fog lights that “delivers a unique light signature both day and night”.
Acoustic glass quietens the cabin while rear tinted glass helps keep the cabin cool. Other exterior highlights include: rear mudflaps, chrome body-side mouldings and wing mirror caps, a powered tailgate, retractable side steps, rear camera washer, roof tails, and front active aero shutters.
The GMC Yukon Denali measures 5338mm in length, 2058mm in width, 1943mm in height, and 3071mm in wheelbase. Those figures place the model as a larger rival to the seven-seat Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series which measures 4980mm long, 1980mm wide, 1950mm in height, and 2850mm in wheelbase.
Cargo capacity for the Yukon Denali is listed at up to 3480 litres.
Equipment highlights include heated and ventilated front seats, heated second row (outboard) seats, a panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade, authentic wood detailing, and “more than 42 inches of high-quality screens”.
Across the dashboard we find a 16.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bose 14-speaker premium audio, an 11.0-inch digital instrument panel, and 15.0-inch colour head-up display, while rear-seat occupants may enjoy dual 12.6-inch infotainment screens.
The Yukon Denali is further equipped with a power adjustable steering column, 12-way powered front seat with drive-side memory functionality, tri-zone climate control, keyless entry and ignition, rain-sensing wipers, and a wireless phone charging pad.
On the all-important safety front we find the Yukon Denali equipped as standard with a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, AEB with pedestrian detection, blind spot detection, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, front and rear parking sensors, high beam assist, hill start assist, lane change alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear camera mirror, rear cross-traffic alert, safety alert seat (rear occupant detection), trailer sway control, tyre pressure monitoring, and more.
