New models - GWM - Haval - H6 GT PHEVGWM updates Haval H6GT plug-in hybridLatest generation GWM Haval H6GT introduces Hi4 hybrid AWD tech, upgraded interior20 Apr 2026 By MATT BROGAN GWM Australia has announced pricing for its freshly updated Haval H6GT Hi4 plug-in hybrid SUV, the performance flagship of its medium SUV range.
Introducing Hi4 hybrid all-wheel drive technology and a “comprehensively upgraded cabin”, the 2026 GWM Haval H6GT Hi4 is available from $52,990 driveaway – a $1000 saving over the outgoing model.
Headlining the changes inside is the inclusion of GWM’s latest Coffee OS infotainment system, a feature the Chinese importer says offers significantly faster processing speeds and a more intuitive user experience.
Accessed via a 14.6-inch touchscreen, the technology supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dominating the dashboard of a cleaner, more minimalist interior that is said to deliver improved ergonomics and higher quality materials when compared with its predecessor.
Other cabin changes include a column-mounted gearshift selector, freeing up console space for a wireless phone charging pad and additional storage.
Mechanically, the Haval H6GT Hi4 now integrates an advanced, electrified all-wheel drive system GWM says is designed to optimise efficiency, traction, and performance across a wide range of driving conditions.
The system combines a petrol-electric powertrain with dual electric motors and “intelligent torque distribution between the front and rear axles”, continuously analysing driver inputs, road surface conditions, and power demands to “seamlessly balance efficiency and performance in real time”.
The plug-in hybrid driveline found under the bonnet of the GWM Haval H6GT Hi4 combines a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and dual electric motors with a 35.4kWh battery pack. Electric only driving range is listed at up to 183km (albeit on the more lenient NEDC scale) with a combined cycle fuel economy figure of just 0.6 litres per 100km (NEDC). A total driving range of 1183km is said to be possible.
Despite the frugal numbers, the GWM Haval H6GT Hi4 is claimed to output 321kW of power (unchanged) and 642Nm of torque (-126Nm) to deliver a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds (-0.3sec).
“This latest update strengthens the wider (Haval) H6 family, which spans petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with all-wheel drive available across key variants,” said GWM Australia in a statement.
“Within this structure, the sport, coupe-inspired H6GT Hi4 PHEV plays a central role, broadening customer choice and reinforcing GWM’s focus on both value and choice.”
Year-to-date sales show GWM has sold 3844 examples of the Haval H6, a 12.0 per cent increase over the same time last year.
With a 6.7 per cent share of its segment, the GWM Haval H6 range sits behind stronger sellers that include the Mitsubishi Outlander (6363 units and 11.1 per cent), Mazda CX-5 (6247 units and 10.9 per cent), Hyundai Tucson (with 5476 units and 9.6 per cent), and the BYD Sealion 7 (with 4486 units and 7.8 per cent).
