Lexus expands LX line-up

Additional model variant, enhanced ADAS, tech, and spec for MY26 Lexus LX range

22 Jul 2025

LEXUS Australia has announced details of a model-year update to its flagship LX SUV range, the full-sized off-roader adding an all-new model variant alongside additional driver assistance features, and updated technology and specifications – adding $2724 to the entry point of the range and up to $3324 elsewhere.

The third-generation Lexus LX brings changes that include an “adventure ready” Overtrail grade – familiar to the smaller GX range – offering what the luxury Japanese importer says is “exceptional ground-covering ability … over rough terrain”.

The LX Overtrail takes to 13 the number of variants now offered across the range – all of which “gain improvements to enhance their respective levels of luxury”, says Lexus.

As before, the LX line-up opens with the seven-seat Luxury grade (now from $158,700 plus on-road costs), the variant now offering an expanded Lexus Safety System+ suite of safety technologies including an improved pre-collision system (AEB) now capable of detecting cyclists at night, motorcyclists by day, and vehicles when crossing an intersection.

Further, acceleration suppression at low speeds may help LX drivers to prevent accidents from unintended throttle inputs, while the vehicle’s lane keeping feature now includes an emergency driving stop system (EDSS) designed to bring the vehicle to a slow stop in the event of an emergency.

Safe exit assist is also offered in conjunction with the vehicle’s blind-spot monitor and can detect both vehicles and cyclists approaching when occupants exit the vehicle.

Along with the enhanced levels of standard safety equipment, the LX Luxury adds a fully digital 12.3-inch instrumentation cluster, replacing the existing 8.0-inch unit, while also adopting wireless Android Auto in addition to the existing wireless Apple CarPlay system.

A USB-C port replaces the existing USB-A outlet at the front of the cabin, bringing the total number of USB-C charging ports to six.

Other enhancements for the MY26 update include soft-close doors, a front HDMI port, and centre console cool box.

Finally, the LX Luxury may be optioned with Lexus $5500 Enhancement Pack added 22-inch alloy wheels (up from 20-inch), a moon roof, and handsfree tailgate with kick sensor.

Positioned above the LX Luxury is the Sports Luxury, F Sport, and Overtrail grades, each, Lexus says, offering a similar level of specification with “unique enhancements to suit the owner’s taste”.

The LX Sports Luxury (now from $176,300 + ORC) now adds front-row massaging seats and four-way adjustable head restrains to its premium leather-accented upholstery, Takanoha woodgrain garnishing, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Meanwhile, the newly added LX Overtrail (from $182,300 + ORC) includes as standard front and rear locking differentials, 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Toyo Open Country A/T tyres, blackened exterior styling cues, unique front and rear bumpers, Monolith olive-coloured stitching and Sumi Black interior garnishing, and a bespoke paint colour dubbed Moon Desert.

Paint hues elsewhere in the range include Graphite Black, Khaki Metal, Liquid Metal, Sonic Quartz, and Titanium, while the F Sport gains White Nova in lieu of Sonic Quartz.

For the same price as the Overtrail, the athletic F Sport variant offers a “suite of unique, performance-oriented upgrades” including a blackened mesh grille, sports front and rear bumpers, blackened 22-inch alloy wheels, a rear Torsen limited-slip differential, and performance dampers.

Like the Sports Luxury variant, the F Sport gains front massaging seats and four-way adjustable head restraints, adding its own steering wheel and gear shift knob finishes, aluminium pedals, and Takumi-inspired aluminium cabin garnishing.

Finally, for the flagship of the LX range, we find the four-seat Ultra Luxury (from $220,950 + ORC).

Updates to the variant include four-way adjustable head restraints, a second wireless smartphone charger, individual rear chairs with central console and multimedia touch panel, seat heating, ventilation, and massage functions, rear-seat ottoman, and, like the rest of the range, a choice of twin-turbocharged petrol or diesel V6 power.

For LX 600 variants, Lexus continues to offer its 3.5-litre petrol engine with 305kW and 650Nm, while LX 500d variants feature a 3.3-litre diesel mill developing 227kW and a brawny 700Nm.

Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time all-wheel drive system with locking centre differential and low-range transfer case.

Furthering the Lexus LX’s off-road credentials, we find every variant equipped as standard with Active Height Control hydraulically adjustable suspension, Multi-Terrain Select, Multi-Terrain Monitor, Downhill Assist Control, and Crawl Control.

As an owner of Lexus’ flagship SUV, every customer receives a three-year complimentary subscription to the Lexus Encore Platinum program which includes benefits like lifestyle Lexus On Demand events, Valet Parking, Lexus DriveCar, and complimentary access to airport lounges.

Lexus vehicles are warranted for five years / unlimited kilometres with included capped-price servicing.

“For decades, Lexus customers have relied on the LX to transport them across the country in utmost comfort, whether on the open road or through challenging outback terrain,” said Lexus Australia chief executive John Pappas.

“The Overtrail grade expands customer choice while the suite of enhancements across the board heightens the sense of luxury.

“The choice of two powerful twin-turbocharged engines is well suited to Australian conditions, with customers also extended an unrivalled ownership experience commensurate with our flagship SUV.”
