Price cut and new model as Lotus looks to life sales3 Mar 2009 LOTUS Cars Australia has dropped the price of its slow-selling Europa S and added a more powerful and luxurious SE version. Having sold just 14 Europas in two years – well short of the projected 30-plus per year – the company has reduced the price of the S by $10,000 to $99,990 while introducing the SE at $109,990, which was the price of the S from launch two years ago. Performance from the Opel 2.0-litre turbocharged engine remains at 147kW and 272Nm for the S, while the SE has been tuned for 165kW and 300Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100km/h half a second faster at 5.3 seconds. The new Europa SE features larger (up one inch to 17-inch front and 18-inch rear) alloy wheels with wider tyres, upgraded brakes with AP Racing four-piston calipers (in place of the previous two-piston units) operating bigger 308mm discs (previously 288mm), a full leather interior, a centre console with cup-holder, an engine start button and various interior and body trim features.
