The model will be offered initially as part of a nationwide launch campaign at $92,500 drive-away until 30 June 2025 (terms and conditions apply).
Mercedes-Benz has tapped its AMG locker for sporty components in an effort to stave off competition from BMW’s 3 Series sedan from $92,900 and Audi’s A4 sedan from $71,900 both excluding on-road costs.
In essence, the ‘Benz is a styling exercise with no performance enhancing components exemplified in its Night Package as standard with dark-tinted privacy glass, 19-inch AMG multi-spoke bi-colour alloy wheels and an AMG spoiler lip which is available for the first time on a non-AMG variant of this generation of the C-Class, while the interior gains a metal-structure trim.
The distinctive Night Package comprises high-gloss black on C 200 Sport Edition body hardware such as exterior mirror housings and trim strips, beltline and window line, as well as trim moulding in the AMG front and rear aprons and louvre of the radiator shell.
Power comes from a four cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system delivering 150kW of power and 300Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels through a ‘Benz 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission.
The model can clock a 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 7.3 seconds while using petrol at the combined rate of a claimed 6.9 litres per 100km from a 66-litre tank.
Interior highlights centre on a “metal-structure” trim on the centre console and dash in conjunction with black Artico upholstery as standard. Available colour options for upholstery include Neva grey and Sienna brown.
The colour palette includes a “high-tech” Silver Metallic as standard with Polar White, Graphite Grey, Selenite Grey, Sodalite Blue and Spectral Blue metallic colours as no-cost options.
Standard kit is generous, building on the base model C 200 with an AMG Line Interior that includes sports front seats, heated and electrically adjustable with memory package, dual-zone climate control, 11.9-inch MBUX multimedia system and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, smartphone integration for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging up front for mobile devices.
Moving to the outside we find the AMG Line exterior includes agility control suspension, electrically adjustable, folding and heated exterior mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, powered boot lid, LED headlights and adaptive high-beam assist, and 360-degree camera.
