New models - MG - MG4MG set to increase list price of MG 4National drive-away price of MG 4 to increase by up to $3000 from July 14 Jun 2025 By MATT BROGAN MG MOTOR Australia has announced price increases for its all-electric MG 4 range.
Effective from July 1, the price hikes see the MY25 stock of the entry-grade MG 4 Excite 51 available from $37,990 drive-away, an increase of $1000 over the previous MY24 offer.
Similarly, the MG 4 Excite 64 increases by $2000 to $42,990 d/a, while the mid-tier Essence 64 jumps $3000 to $45,990 d/a. The penultimate Essence 77 rises just $1000 to $50,990 d/a while pricing of the flagship X Power is unchanged – still from $55,990 d/a.
While MG Motor Australia did not provide a reason for the price increases, chief executive officer Peter Ciao said the MG 4 continues to deliver unbeatable value for Australian families.
“With rear-wheel drive, 50:50 weight distribution, and a five-star ANCAP safety rating, the MG 4 EV delivers unbeatable value for Australian families,” he said.
“We set out to raise the bar for electric vehicles, and it’s clear to see we’ve done just that.
“There has never been a better time to buy. After 1 July, pricing will increase, and this level of discount won’t return.”
Backed by MG Motor’s 10-year warranty and available at nearly 100 dealerships nationwide, the MG 4 remains one of Australia’s most affordable electric vehicles.
It is also one of Australia’s better selling Small car models...
Competing within the Small passenger over $45K segment, the MG 4 has sold a total of 1698 examples to the end of April (2025), convincingly out-selling the Volkswagen Golf (1063), BMW 1 Series (663), Subaru WRX (602), Mercedes-Benz A-Class (542), and Audi A3 (371).
The MG 4 also out-sells EV rivals including the similarly-sized Cupra Born (271 unit sales YTD) and BYD Dolphin (431), GWM Ora (196), and Nissan Leaf (62), as well as the next-size-up BYD Seal (627), BMW i4 (382), Hyundai Ioniq 6 (58), Polestar 2 (56), and Tesla Model 3 (220).
