New models - Polestar - 2Polestar updates ‘2’ for 2026Focus on tech and battery improvements for revised MY26 Polestar 2 electric vehicle21 Aug 2025 WITH year-to-date sales of its Polestar 2 mid-sizer languishing at 19th place in the BEVosphere (537 units), the Geely-owned manufacturer has introduced an updated MY26 version of its debut model.
Unusually, and despite significant upgrades the updated new range arrives with unchanged pricing starting from $62,400 excluding on-road costs for Standard range Single motor entry model.
Across all variants, buyers stand to benefit from the MY26 Polestar 2’s new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor chip which provides faster processing. The chip supports quicker download speeds for in-car apps, faster reaction times within apps and actions, improved centre display responsiveness, and smoother performance across the infotainment system.
Other improvements include more range and faster charging for the base model Standard range Single motor variant while the entire Polestar 2 line-up benefits from new optional features, a new wheel design for Performance pack vehicles, and a new exterior colour.
Top of the options list and only with the Plus pack is a 14-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with a total output of 1350 Watts. The $3500 premium audio system features highlighted branding, “Tweeter-on-Top” technology for improved clarity and accuracy, and Continuum midrange speakers that minimise distortion, delivering a rich audio experience.
A new exterior colour, Dune, debuts on the 2 – a contemporary metallic sandy colour with a smooth mica finish that replaces Jupiter.
New design five-spoke 20-inch forged alloy Performance wheels make an appearance. They are the lightest available for Polestar 2 to date and are part of the optional Performance Pack.
Inside, the MY26 Polestar 2 features a “bio-attributed” MicroTech upholstery in Charcoal with distinctive quilting design and Black Ash deco is available with the optional Plus Pack.
Tint is now applied to rear side windows, in addition to the tailgate window.
Of particular importance is a battery update for the Standard range Single motor now with a 70kWh battery from highly regarded manufacturer CATL, in lieu of the previous 69kWh LG Chem battery.
It bestows the model with an improved range of up to 554km (WLTP), up from 546km, as well as faster charging offering 180kW DC, up from 135kW DC, with charging from 10-80 per cent in a claimed 26 minutes.
The Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor with Performance pack is now exclusively available with the Plus pack now with the re-instated harman/kardon 600-watt, 13-speaker sound system.
Polestar Australia says Pro pack equipped vehicles will be delivered exclusively with the Graphite finish 20-inch alloy wheels.
A range of single options and option packs are available across the Polestar 2 line-up (some option pack specific).
All Polestars are covered by a five-year vehicle warranty, complimentary roadside assist and five years of scheduled servicing.
