Skoda targets Chinese with dynamic duo

Sharply priced new base variants for Elroq and Enyaq

17 Sep 2025

JUST weeks after the launch of the all-new Elroq small electric SUV and concurrent with the arrival of the facelifted Enyaq medium electric SUV, Skoda Australia has announced that it will introduce new entry-level ‘60 Select’ variants for the Elroq and Enyaq

Their arrival gives the Czech brand price-point competitiveness to challenge China’s EV stranglehold head-on.

Starting at $47,990 (+ORC) for the Elroq 60 Select and $50,990 (+ORC) for the larger Enyaq 60 Select SUV, Skoda’s statement of intent with these two vehicles is underpinned by a driveaway price of $49,990 for the base Elroq 60 Select and $54,990 driveaway for the base Enyaq.

Skoda Australia’s product manager for Elroq, Aline Carrullo, said they had been working on these new 60 Select variants for “a very long time” and they’d only just received confirmation that they had been approved and will be arriving in November 2025.

“What is new is that we’re now gonna have the Elroq 60 Select as the entry variant. It will have the optional Signature Pack and 20-inch alloy wheels as well. And since we are offering them on the 60 Select, we’re also going to offer them on the Elroq 85 Select. It just makes our range stronger,” she said.

The Elroq 60 Select’s substantial level of standard equipment matches the existing Elroq 85 Select ($54,990 MLRP or $59,990 driveaway) in all areas apart from its window and roof-rail trim  with black instead of dark chrome, 19-inch alloy wheel design, and its smaller battery powertrain.

Instead of the Elroq 85 Select’s 210kW/545Nm powertrain outputs, 82kWh battery, 0-100km/h time of 6.6 seconds and WLTP range claim of 529km, the 60 Select offers 150kW/310Nm outputs, a 63kWh battery, a 0-100km/h claim of 8.0s and 395km WLTP range.

Those numbers compare favourably with the MG S5 EV Essence 62 ($47,990 driveaway, 0-100km/h in 8.6s, 425km range), Kia EV3 Air Standard Range ($48,990 d/a, 0-100km/h in 7.5s, 436km range), BYD Atto 3 Premium ($48,174 d/a in NSW, 0-100km/h in 7.3s, 420km range), Leapmotor C10 Style ($47,500 d/a, 0-100km/h in 7.5sec, 425km range) and Geely EX5 Inspire ($48,360 d/a, 0-100km/h in 7.1s, 410km range).

The optional Signature Pack at $6000 is available on both Elroq 60 Select and 85 Select includes Matrix LED headlights with dynamic cornering lights, sequential rear indicators, integrated fog lights, nine airbags (two extra), augmented-reality HUD, 12-speaker Canton audio, surround-view camera, power driver’s seat with memory and massage, power front lumbar adjustment, power-folding heated mirrors with auto-dimming and memory, hands-free electric tailgate and rear-door sunshades.

The larger Enyaq 60 Select shares the same 150kW/310Nm powertrain with rear-wheel drive as the Elroq 60 but offers slightly more WLTP range (410km) thanks to its superior aerodynamics and a marginally slower 0-100km/h time (8.1s).

Both Elroq and Enyaq 60 Select variants feature a maximum DC charging rate of 165kW for a 10-80 per cent charge time of 24 minutes - among the best in class.

Headline equipment on the Enyaq 60 Select includes 19-inch ‘Regulus’ alloy, front and rear parking sensors, a full active-safety suite, hands-free electric tailgate, keyless entry/start, power-folding mirrors, tri-zone climate control, 13.0-inch infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and phone charging, eight-speaker audio, heated steering wheel, heated ‘comfort’ height-adjustable front seats with lumbar adjustment, fabric/leatherette upholstery, rear privacy glass, LED ambient lighting, a luggage net and a driver’s door umbrella.

Like the Elroq 60 Select, it also offers an optional $6000 Signature Pack, as well as 20-inch ‘Vega’ alloy wheels for $1000.

Skoda’s name-checked competitors for the Enyaq 60 Select ($50,990 +ORC, 0-100km/h in 8.1s, 410km range) include the Tesla Model Y RWD ($58,990 +ORC, 0-100km/h in 5.9s, 466km range), BYD Sealion 7 Premium ($54,990 +ORC, 0-100km/h in 6.7s, 482km range) and Kia EV5 Air Standard Range ($56,770 +ORC, 0-100km/h in 8.5s, 400km range).

The announcement of these sharply priced new 60 Select variants for Elroq and Enyaq headlines a bumper few months for Skoda new arrivals in Australia.

The new-generation Kodiaq RS arrives this month (September) with pricing officially announced on September 22. It will then be followed by the plug-in hybrid Kodiaq PHEV in December.

That same PHEV powertrain will appear in the new-generation Superb in the first quarter of 2026, with Skoda’s eco focus continuing with 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrains for the Kodiaq and Octavia towards the end of the first quarter, or possibly Q2 in 2026.

Also arriving in Q2 will be the dual-motor AWD RS variants of both the new Enyaq (Coupe and SUV) and the smaller Elroq.

The even smaller Epiq baby electric SUV has now been confirmed to arrive here during 2027, as well as the production version of Skoda’s Vision 7S large electric SUV.

And then there’s the Vision O concept from the Munich show, which prefigures the next-generation Octavia wagon design, and which will again be on the cards for Australia.

This price-sharpening and new-model onslaught may help Skoda achieve its ultimate volume goal of 10,000 annual sales in Australia, and beyond.

In 2024, total sales were down 37 per cent to 5015 units (from 7999 units in 2023). And year-to-date in 2025, Skoda sales are down a further 29 per cent to 2902 units at the end of August (compared to 3736 YTD from the previous year).

Meanwhile, Skoda volume in Europe is booming, with the brand now ranked number three in year-to-date sales for 2025.
