In line with Volkswagen Australia’s “feature-rich strategy”, the Tiguan will arrive as standard with equipment highlights including 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, a powered tailgate, 360-degree camera system, digital instrumentation, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment array with native sat nav, wireless app connect and device charging, and DAB+ digital radio reception for just $1000 more than the outgoing model.
Importantly, the Tiguan range will also include as standard a heightened range of standard safety inclusions. Under the Travel Assist banner, these include adaptive cruise control with lane assist for semi-autonomous stop-and-go driving, AEB with junction assist and pedestrian and cyclist recognition, blind spot monitoring, front- and rear cross-traffic alert, side exit warning, semi-autonomous parking assistance, traffic sign recognition, and nine airbags.

Optionally, the grade is available with a panoramic sunroof ($2100) and/or Volkswagen’s Sound & Vision package ($2700) encompassing head-up display and harman/kardon premium audio.
As noted by GoAuto previously, the Tiguan now offers customers the choice of turbocharged 110TSI front-wheel drive and 150TSI all-wheel drive petrol engine options in its lower tiers, the latter available on R-Line (from $55,990) or Elegance (from $60,690) variants.

Moving up to the Tiguan 150TSI Elegance (from $60,690) we find the Sound & Vision package now offered as standard and joining HD Matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beam, LED Plus tail-lights with dynamic indicators, a larger 15.0-inch infotainment array, and adaptive chassis control.
Finally, at the top of the range, we find the Tiguan 195TSI R-Line (from $70,490) with 195kW of power and 400Nm of torque – and a sizzling 0-100km/h time of just 5.9 seconds.
The flagship variant offers the look and feel of the Tiguan 150TSI R-Line with the luxury specification of the 150TSI Elegance, plus its own appointments that include 20-inch Leeds alloy wheels, leather-appointed upholstery, front comfort seats with electric adjustment, memory, heating, ventilation, and massage, a heated steering wheel, and more.
Optionally, the Tiguan 195TSI R-Line is available with the Black Style package ($1500) introducing black wing mirror caps, roof rails, window framing, R-Line front and rear bumper covers with high-gloss black trim, and 20-inch York alloy wheels.
Remaining options include metallic paint ($800) and premium metallic paint ($1100) as available across the range.
“The all-new Tiguan is emblematic of Volkswagen’s positioning as an elevated mainstream brand,” said Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles head of product Arjun Nidigallu.
“The all-new cabin feels like a mini Touareg, with premium materials and cutting-edge design. The significant uplift in standard features, safety and infotainment technology is delivered at extremely competitive prices.
“We want the Volkswagen Tiguan to be attainable and elevated. Customers can confidently cross-shop this vehicle against mainstream rivals at around $55,000 or under, with flagship versions continuing to deliver a unique Volkswagen offering of style, performance and dynamics.”
