News - catlCATL reveals hi-tech Shenxing Pro LFP EV batteryShenxing Pro LFP EV battery to offer almost 500km from 10 minutes charge, 12 yr life24 Sep 2025 By MATT BROGAN CHINESE electric vehicle battery producer CATL has unveiled its new Shenxing Pro lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery at its recent Open Day claiming the unit can achieve sustained high voltage supply, maintained power, no fire, and no smoke after thermal runaway.
Further, the battery is said to be able to continue to provide motive power for up to an hour after a thermal runaway event, allowing a driver to safely park and exit their vehicle.
Importantly for EV buyers, the unit is also said to deliver up to 500km of driving range after just 10 minutes of charging, and 758km range on a full charge.
With a claimed serviceable life of one million kilometres or 12 years, the CATL Shenxing Pro is said to degrade by just nine per cent after 200,000km, and deliver up to 830kW of output, far exceeding the highest capacity battery packs currently in the market.
It is backed by a 10-year / 240,000km factory warranty.
Equipped with CATL’s proprietary NP 3.0 Technology, the Shenxing Pro is able to deliver the uninterrupted power and system continuity required for level three and level four autonomous driving technology and associated ADAS systems.
“The Shenxing Pro seamlessly fuses world-class safety standards with mobility needs, delivering a safer, more efficient, and carefree experience for every journey,” CATL International Business Unit chief technology officer Dr Zhu Lingbo told investors.
“With uncompromised range, charging, and durability, Shenxing Pro is the ultimate solution for electric mobility in Europe.”
The announcement follows CATL’s €11 billion (AU$19.5 billion) investment in production facilities within Europe – a market the manufacturer says is expected to grow exponentially within the next decade.
CATL claims it is collaborating with over 200 vehicle manufacturers globally and over 1000 European suppliers, further advancing the level of innovation it is able to deliver to its customers.
“With cutting-edge technologies, diverse global operations, proven manufacturing expertise, and a mindset of open collaboration, CATL is committed to being a reliable partner to the European automotive industry,” explained CATL Global Business chief commercial officer and senior vice president Tan Libin.
“By combining our advanced capabilities with Europe’s decades-long automotive expertise, we aim to go beyond ‘in Europe, for Europe’ and ultimately ‘of Europe’, building a greener, smarter and more thriving EV ecosystem that spans from material production, battery making, remanufacturing and recycling to accelerate the region’s energy transition.”
Headquartered in Ningde, China, CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) is the world’s largest EV and storage battery manufacturer with a global share of around 38 per cent.
Automotive brands including BMW, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Li Auto, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Nio, Tesla, Volvo, and Xiaomi have alliances with, or use CATL batteries, within their models.
