News - RamRam chalks up 30,000 sales Down UnderAmerican importer’s sales rate more than double that of the competition, says Ram Australia18 Jul 2025 ON THE back of its Hemi V8 power plant, Ram Trucks Australia has chalked up a milestone 30,000 sales since the model first arrived Down Under and subsequent local re-engineering.
Ram Trucks Australia says it’s the greatest number of vehicles in this segment sold since official industry records started back in the 1990s.
The Ram 1500 US-style large pick-up has rung a bell with many Aussie buyers for its imposing looks, size, power and towing capacity… and the rumbling V8 under its bonnet which has been replaced in the latest generation by a more powerful turbocharged straight six-cylinder engine – although a Hemi V8 is tipped to make a return down the track.
Ram Trucks Australia, part of the Ateco Group that also handles Maserati, LDV and Renault local distribution, declares the tally positions Ram 1500 at the top of the segment sales chart and represents more than twice as many US pick-up sales in Australia than any other brand that includes Ford’s F150, the Chevrolet Silverado and Toyota’s Tundra.
Ram 1500’s seven-year streak as the top-selling US pick-up in Australia culminated in the 30,000th vehicle, a Ram 1500 Limited in Delmonico Red being purchased by a customer in south-east Queensland. It was delivered last month, just shy of the 10th anniversary of Ram Trucks Australia being established.
The first vehicle from Ram Trucks Australia – a Ram 2500 HD – was delivered to a customer also in Queensland on Christmas Eve in 2015.
Since its inception until the end of June 2025, Ram Trucks Australia moved a total of 30,123 vehicles as reported in official VFACTS data compiled by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) with close to a further 2000 Ram vehicles sold in New Zealand over the same period.
Ram Trucks Australia said in a statement that the sales result was “driven by strong demand for both the new MY25 Ram 1500 powered by the twin-turbo straight-six Hurricane engine – introduced earlier this year – and runout models powered by the iconic Hemi V8, which remain in stock in limited numbers”.
“We would like to thank our customers who drove us to this incredible milestone of 30,000 sales in Australia,” said Ram Trucks Australia general manager Jeff Barber.
“We also must thank the 200-plus production line workers and 50-plus engineers in Melbourne who remanufacture our vehicles from left- to right-hand drive to factory quality and safety standards.
“From humble beginnings we achieved a level of sales success that exceeded our expectations.
“There are now 30,000 Australians who have made the switch to a Ram after previously owning a mid-size pick-up or large four-wheel-drive wagon.
“The reason Ram vehicles are so popular is because they deliver a level of comfort, roominess and capability that traditional utes and SUVs can’t match.” ![]() Read more9th of June 2025 ![]() GM, Stellantis recommit to V8 enginesHemi rethink at Ram; GM recommits to its V8 program precipitated by market forces6th of May 2025 ![]() 2025 Ram 1500 Limited ReviewV8 successor gets 100kW+ more power, better economy, similar exhaust burble |
