IN an era where image is everything, Laser SR is dressed to thrill. Unlike the SR2, which has uprated performance and handling to go with its bodywork, the SR blends the basic GLXi mechanical package with the new suit. That's no bad thing for the keen driver because the 1.8-litre engine provides strong performance and the basic Laser road manners are as solid as ever. But the equally competent and similarly priced GLXi has much more equipment, which takes the gloss off the SR package.
