NOT quite the radical change HSV has introduced with its 6.0-litre LS2 V8-powered Z-Series ClubSport range, Ford Performance Vehicles' updated MkII GT range is nonetheless a worthwhile, if evolutionary, improvement to Ford's top-shelf sports sedan line-up. While power remains pegged at a still competitive 290kW, FPV has added a little more attitude, a new six-speed manual transmission, enhanced suspension and a subtle equipment upgrade to mark the latest version of this century’s Falcon GT.

Released: March 2003
Ended: November 2004
Family Tree: GTLaunched in March 2003, the newly formed Ford Performance Vehicles' next generation GT sedan range was the long-awaited successor to the original 1970s Falcon sports sedan of the same name that has since become legend, and followed a succession of luke-warm Tickford-engineered T-Series vehicles. A direct rival to HSV's ClubSport, GT shocked all with its standard 290kW 5.4-litre V8 and ride/handling previous generation Falcon GT owners would die for.
