Hyundai Ioniq 6 N details revealed

478kW all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 N detailed, expected in Australia first half of 2026

10 Nov 2025

HYUNDAI has announced further details of its Ioniq 6 N ahead of the model’s local launch in the first half of 2026.

Promising a more focused drive than the Ioniq 5 N on which it is based, the model is said to prioritise “high-intensity driving” with “plethora advanced features for heightened precision and engagement”.

According to Hyundai, key technical innovations of the Ioniq 6 N include fully redesigned suspension geometry, an enhanced N e-Shift (virtual gear shift) system, and a refined N Active Sound + system – all contributing to a more engaging and immersive driving experience.

The Ioniq 6 N features Hyundai’s stroke-sensing electronically controlled dampers and a lowered roll centre said to ensure confidence-inspiring performance on undulating roads and demanding circuits.

The revised suspension geometry not only lowers the roll centre for improved high-speed stability but also incorporates new bushing applications to balance sharp handling with “refined comfort”.

Additionally, an electronic limited slip differential (e-LSD) actively manages wheel torque to boost traction and overall performance. Complementary upgrades to axle stiffness, steering precision, and mount damping are said to further reduce vibration while enhancing ride comfort and refinement across varied surfaces.

As is to be expected from one of the most slippery shaped vehicles on the market, the aerodynamic enhancements to the N version of the Ioniq 6 are said to further contribute to the model’s on-track performance. Highlights include a swan-neck rear wing and widened guards that deliver increased downforce while achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.27Cd.

Body rigidity is likewise strengthened, with the Ioniq 6 N featuring additional weld points, adhesives, and structural reinforcements.

Further upgrades include a stiffer rear anti-roll bar and structural underbody reinforcement, improving load-bearing capacity and rear body stiffness for “sharper steering response, reduced vibration, and enhanced ride quality”.

Importantly, the advanced braking systems of the Ioniq 6 N combine high-performance hardware with intelligent controls to “optimise stability, agility and efficiency”, says Hyundai.

Dedicated braking modes support both daily driving and track use, while regenerative systems adapt to road conditions and driving style to maximise energy recovery and range.

Hyundai says the Ioniq 6 N is “meticulously crafted to excel on the racetrack, delivering an electrified experience that seamlessly blends power, control and advanced technology”.

This is achieved in part by an integrated power electronics (PE) system that delivers significantly higher efficiency and output than the standard model, unlocking maximum performance of 478kW and 770Nm.

At the front, the Ioniq 6 N features a high-efficiency, high-output drive system combining motor, reducer and inverter, while the rear motor serves as the primary drive unit for “enhanced traction”.

Hyundai quotes a 0-100km/h time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 257km/h.

Familiar to the Ioniq 5 N is Hyundai’s N e-Shift technology that replicates gear shifts to “amplify responsiveness and driver engagement”. The system works alongside additional key performance features that include N Launch Control, N Drift Optimiser, N Grin Boost, and N Torque Distribution.

Additionally, N Track Manager enables custom track design, lap-time monitoring, and real-time insights – including “ghost car visuals for comparative analysis”.

Hyundai says the high-performance driving demands of the Ioniq 6 N are met via an optimised N Battery system that carefully manages battery pack temperature while simultaneously adapting to drag, sprint and endurance scenarios.

Integrated conditioning functions are said to enhance performance longevity, while improved thermal management and an upgraded coolant heater significantly reduce conditioning time.

The upgraded 84.0kWh battery also delivers increased output and improved energy density for greater range and responsiveness. Supporting this is the enhanced Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which boosts power density and charging capacity.

With an innovative 400-800V multi-charging architecture, Ioniq 6 N is said to achieve a 10-80 per cent recharged in as little as 18 minutes when connected to a compatible 350kW appliance. Driving range is listed at 487km (WLTP).

While localised equipment and specification data will be revealed closer to the model’s launch, the Ioniq 6 N is said to feature as standard an extensive itinerary of safety and advanced driver assistance systems as part of its SmartSense suite.

These include forward collision avoidance assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, highway driving assist, remote smart parking assist, and many more.

Standard equipment highlights are set to include 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero 5 tyres, four-piston front brakes with 400mm rotors (and single-piston rear with 360mm rotors, Alcantara suede and genuine leather combination bucket seats, N-exclusive metal pedals, and N Pasubio steering wheel.

Exterior colours include Performance Blue Pearl, Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Nocturne Grey Metallic, Nocturne Grey Matte, and Gravity Gold Matte. The interior is finished in Black with Performance Blue accents.
